Session 4 : Creating stability for teams

Session 4 homework

During the session, we learned that in order to provide a stable environment for your team, you need to manage constant changes to short- and long-term plans.

For your homework this week:

We suggest you make time with your team to talk about the kinds of disruptions that affect them most and brainstorm different ways you might address them. Agree on one thing to try for a month or three, and then put a second date in the calendar to discuss whether that idea is working as you’d all hoped or whether it needs to be adjusted or scrapped for something else.

1. Read this article about overprotective managers, and reflect on how you can balance creating stability for your team/s and how you might go too far.

  • What would be the signs to you that you’re overprotecting?
  • How can you course correct?

2. Take a look at this article which suggests three ways that teams can recover from disruptions and improve resilience.

  • How are these different from the ideas our speakers talked about?
  • How are they similar?
  • What might you try from this article?
