André is a Director of Engineering at Duolingo, where he leads engineering for the Duolingo English Test business unit, with a focus on product development, systems architecture and AI. He is passionate about leadership development, and scaling high-performing teams with a culture of collaboration and kindness. He was born in Brazil in a Japanese immigrant family, and currently lives in the Pittsburgh.
